RULES UPDATE
All York Cup Classic and York Cup Recreational soccer tournament games will use a standardized layout where teams will sit on opposite sides of the field(diagonally across from one another) with parents/spectators on the same side of the field as the teams. Parents/spectators must sit to the left side of midfield with teams sitting on the right side. Space between the teams and parents will be reserved for substitution of players. No exceptions. Updated Rules of Competition and a diagram depicting this layout are available on each tournament's web page.

This change supercedes any other field layout requirements or diagrams.

YORK CUP CLASSIC - EFFECTIVE: 5/10/13

Venue assignments and schedules have been posted to the York Cup Classic and York Cup Recreational soccer tournament sites.

York Cup Classic and York Cup Recreational mandatory registration will take place on Friday, May 17 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at Springwood Golf Club, 601 Chestnut Hill Road . York, Pennsylvania 17402 (map and directions).

The following items MUST be brought to YORK CUP CLASSIC REGISTRATION:

• Two (2) copies of your approved STAMPED ROSTER.
• All PLAYER PASSES (including primary passes for guest players). NOTE: No additions or changes after registration Friday night.
• Individual MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS for each player.
   

• Two (2) copies of your approved STAMPED ROSTER.
• BIRTH CERTIFICATES for all players.
• Individual MEDICAL RELEASE FORMS for each player.

The latest edition of Touchline, the EPYSA magazine for youth soccer in Eastern Pennsylvania is now available.

The York Cup Committee will hold a bracketing meeting on Wednesday, April 23th from 7:00 PM until finished in the Doral Room (last conference room on the lower level) at Heritage Hills, 2700 Mt. Rose Avenue, York, PA 17402 (map and directions). All committee members and interested parties are invited to attend.

The list of 2013 York Cup Classic and York Cup Recreational Accepted Teams is now available.

The following are NOT RULE CHANGES but are reminders of CURRENT LEAGUE POLICIES.

York USA League Policy requires that ALL PLAYERS participating on RECREATIONAL-LEVEL TEAMS PLAY AT LEAST ONE HALF of EACH GAME.

There is NO MINIMUM PLAYING TIME imposed by the league on PLAYERS participating on TRAVEL-LEVEL TEAMS. Please note that individual clubs may have travel player playing time policies in effect for their own clubs. Check with your club President if you have any questions.

REMINDER
The MANDATORY Spring 2013 Coaches Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 13th in the Windows on the Green Terrace at Heritage Hills Golf Resort (Directions and Resort Map). Registration open at 7:00 PM, meeting starts at 7:30 PM.

As the inaugural season (Spring 2013) of the new National Womens Soccer League nears, 55 National Team players from the USA, Canada, and Mexico have been allocated to the new teams.

In commemoration of our 100th anniversary, U.S. Soccer is embarking on a year-long celebration honoring the history and setting a path for the future of the sport throughout 2013.

The 2013 Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Workshop (formerly known as the Coaches' Workshop) will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the United Sports Training Center in Downington, PA (map and directions). Buy your tickets here.

Congratulations to Richard Zeigler (Red Lion Soccer Club) and Cavan Irvine (York Area Soccer Referees Association) the 2012 EPYSA Boys Recreation Coach of the Year and Male Young Referee of the Year respectivley. With these awards, Richard and Cavan are automatically nominated for the Region I Awards.

ATTENTION ALL REFEREES - CORRECTED EMAIL ADDRESSES BELOW
During the Referees' Game Report submital process you will be presented with the Select Email Client dialog asking you to choose how you send email: Desktop Email Application, or Internet Email. If you select:

• Desktop Email Application (e.g., Outlook), then your email client should open as a preconfigured email message with a copy of your report attached. Simply click send to submit.
• Internet Email (e.g., GMail, Xfinity), then you will need to open your internet email seperately, create an email mesage, attach your report (saved previoulsy in the process), and send the report to both shewyusa@comcast.net and refreports@yorkusa.org.

York USA is pleased to introduce the Beta Test Version of our mobile site which is optimized for smart phones and similar devices. Now you can access many of the functions and features of our full site when a PC isn't pratical. While not all content will be accessible from within the mobile site, all available content will bee 100% identical to that on the full site. When necessary, you will still be able to access the full site from your smart phone.

Recently, Ciran Dalton gave a very informative presentation at an EPYSA gathering titled, "Being the Parent of an Athlete: The Highs and Lows." Ciran is a Sports Psychology Consultant and a product of Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer who played at college ball at Millersville University and professionally in Ireland. He is also an experienced High School and College soccer coach.

Long term athletic development was the main theme at a recent meeting of EPYSA member club Presidents, Representatives, and Directors of Coaching. Read John Fellenbaum's (York USA Director of Coaching) report on this topic and follow his blog for more information.

York USA recently adopted modified, age appropriate Laws of the Game to govern play in our league while providing reasonable consistency with surrounding leagues (for the purpose of tournament play) and to foster development in accordance to US Youth Soccer guidelines and recommendations. These laws may be down loaded from our Forms page.

Notes:

• The size of the penalty area (14 yards) was inadvertently left out of the recently adopted York USA league U10 8v8 Laws. This document has now been revised and re-posted.
• The York USA Game Standards remain our core set of rules governing play within the league. The new U6 through U10 modified Laws of the Game supercede the Game Standards where there is a difference in the provided guidance.
• Play in U12 and older travel-level age groups reamain governed by our legacy York USA Game Standards.
• Play in U12 and older a recreational-level age groups remain governed by our York USA Game Standards except where superceded by our Recreational Soccer Rules.
