Concussions in Sports
Wednesday, August 14, 2013

In accordance with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) policy, and in support of PA Act 101, all member organizations and their affiliates must educate its coaches, players, and parents regarding concussions.

EPYSA and York USA require that each member club ensure that all coaches, assistant coaches, and other personnel who interact with its players, complete formalized concussion training as provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) [click here to access the free online training].

Furthermore, member clubs are required to ensure each player and family member has been provided access to CDC provided concusion awareness educational materials [click here to access player and parent materials] and to educate its players and parents on the organization and state policies [click here to access the EPYSA Concussion Management Policy and here to access additional EPYSA Concussion Resources].

Each member club must also maintain records documenting proof of compliance and submit Annual Concussion Education and Training Certification to York USA.

Laws of the Game Revisions and Clarifications!
Tuesday, August 31, 2010

York USA recently adopted modified, age appropriate Laws of the Game to govern play in our league while providing reasonable consistency with surrounding leagues (for the purpose of tournament play) and to foster development in accordance to US Youth Soccer guidelines and recommendations. These laws may be down loaded from our Forms page.

Notes:

  • The size of the penalty area (14 yards) was inadvertently left out of the recently adopted York USA league U10 8v8 Laws. This document has now been revised and re-posted.
  • The York USA Game Standards remain our core set of rules governing play within the league. The new U6 through U10 modified Laws of the Game supercede the Game Standards where there is a difference in the provided guidance.
  • Play in U12 and older travel-level age groups reamain governed by our legacy York USA Game Standards.
  • Play in U12 and older a recreational-level age groups remain governed by our York USA Game Standards except where superceded by our Recreational Soccer Rules.
