York College Women's Soccer News Minimize

History was made Saturday as the York College Women won their very first Capital Athletic Conference Title. The Spartans did not allow a goal the entire Tournament, beating Villa Julie 2-0 at home, Mary Washington 3-0 at home, and beating Salisbury 2-0 in the championship game at Salisbury. This team really rose to the occasion and are an absolute super group.

Local players did an super job and there was a great article in the paper after the Mary Washington game as Jill Stanley, Kayla Denmyer from Kennard-Dale and Ashley Gross from Eastern all had goals. Other local players are Samantha Shultz, Kennard-Dale, Kate Harney, York Catholic and a Barrens player from Stewartstown, Jenna Knaper, Red Lion, Alexa Bieile, Dallastown, and Erin Mummert, Spring Grove. And of course, we can't forget our friend, Al Chesnavage York College Women's Assistant Coach, York USA Board Member, Barrens Soccer Club VP of Travel, and coach of too many Barren's and Kennard-Dale teams to count!

The Spartans play Richard Stockton on Saturday in New Jersey as they enter the NCAA tournament for the first time ever. As you can imagine Coach Sterner, Al Chesnavage, the rest of the coaching staff, and the team has been on Cloud 9 all weekend. Thanks very much to everyone for all of your support!
