FIFA World Cup 2026 will be here before you know it, and why not show the world why Philadelphia is America’s host city. Philadelphia is the best place for the love of the game and we will tell you why:
1. The city is made for major events as America’s birthplace. In celebration, 2026 will be the center place of the United States` 250th birthday. The Philadelphia Phillies will also be hosting the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. Event experience is as seamless as it gets. There is public transit, air, rails and hotels all within a 15-minute ride to the stadium.
2. The venue speaks for itself, Lincoln Financial Field sold out Manchester United vs. FC Barcelona match. Philadelphia set the record for attendees (44,100) when the US Women’s National team came to Lincoln Financial Field in August 2019. Other soccer matches that Lincoln Financial has hosted, CONCACAF Gold Cup, Copa America Centenario, FIFA Women’s World Cup, USMNT, USWNT and International Friendlies.
3. The passion, you can feel just walking through our state. Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer has the 6th largest player registration in the country with over 120,000 registered soccer players.
Hosting the World Cup in Philadelphia can have an impact on motivating tourism spending, creating jobs, and drives labor income. Growing the love and passion for soccer across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is a part of Eastern Pennsylvania’s mission, to grow and perpetuate the game of soccer. To showcase Philadelphia as one of the greatest sports cities in the world is an opportunity that we don’t want to miss out on.
During the 2020 Annual General Meeting, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer welcomed the Chair of the 2026 World Cup Host City Bid Committee and Comcast Senior Executive Vice President, David Cohen, who gave an update about the status of the bid, and how the soccer community of Eastern Pennsylvania would be a vital part of securing Philadelphia’s position as one of the final 16 host cities. Mr. Cohen unveiled the logo as well as additional information.
